Tata Communications' global telepresence extends to Shanghai


New Delhi, Jun 4 (IANS): Tata Communications has added a state-of-the-art "virtual meeting" telepresence suite to its global network in downtown Shanghai. It has been launched in partnership with China Mobile and JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai, the company said here in a statement Tuesday.

Telepresence is the next generation of video-conferencing that provides a fully life-like and high definition 'virtual' meeting experience, which helps to improve all sorts of business interaction through better and more frequent meetings.

"China is currently the world's second largest economy and one of the fastest growing markets globally. In partnership with China Mobile and JW Marriott Hotel Shanghai, the addition of Shanghai to our telepresence community provides companies doing business with China - and Chinese companies doing business internationally - with a powerful collaboration tool and a great way to accelerate and enhance all manner of relationships." Peter Quinlan, vice president, Integrated Business Video Services, Tata Communications, said.

The Shanghai telepresence facility will be connected to Tata Communications' Global Meeting Exchange Telepresence inter-exchange network.

Tata Communications' Global Meeting Exchange Telepresence inter-exchange network also serves as a gateway to its public room telepresence network with more than 40 rooms across five continents.
