Nitish to face trust vote Wednesday

Patna, June 16 (IANS): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said Sunday that a special session of the assembly will be called Wednesday so that he can prove his majority.

But the chief minister made no reference to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in his brief comments to the media after meeting the governor, amid signs of an imminent break up in the BJP-Janata Dal-United alliance.

The JD-U has 118 seats in the 243-member assembly, only four short of majority, while the BJP has 91 members. There are six independents in the assembly while the Congress has four members.
