Rajnath Singh appeals Muslims to forget post-Godhra riots

Jaipur, Jun 22 (PTI): In a veiled reference to 2002 post-Godhra riots, BJP president Rajnath Singh on Saturday appealed the Muslim community to "forget or ignore it".

"There may have been some incidents but can we not forget or ignore them now? Incidents have been happening and 13,000 communal riots took place in the country before 2002. Rajasthan has seen the regime of Bhairo Singh Shekhawat and Vasundhara Raje but there had been no discrimination against minorities," Singh said at function organised by a local TV channel here.

"I want to build confidence among you (Muslims) that there is no difference in our words and deeds. British ruled with 'divide and rule' policy, but after 66 years of independence governments could not bridge the gap between Hindus and Muslims," the BJP leader said at seminar on 'issues before minorities'.

Singh asked people to approach him if there was any case of discrimination against the community in BJP-ruled state.

"If you find any discrimination with the community in any of the BJP ruled states, come to me with your complaint or write to me; I will reply and try to solve the problem," Singh said.

Singh also underlined the importance of paying respect to each other saying,"this was important in order to make the country and society sensible".

He also said that the party was not doing politics to gain power.

"We are trying to touch your hearts by love and affection and not by sense of fear. We want to build confidence among you," he said.

However, when Singh was leaving after addressing the function he was aggressively challenged by Rajasthan Minority Commission Chairman Mahir Azad to explain why "discrimination against Muslims prevailed in Gujarat".

However, Singh did not react and left the venue.

"You asked Muslims to write to you about discrimination in BJP-ruled states, but why you are not saying about Gujarat. Why discrimination was there in Gujarat? Students from the minority community are deprived of scholarship. Fund for minority welfare and development allocated by the Centre is not being utilised for years. You should clarify this to people here," Azad said.

Singh did not react and moved out of the hall amid commotion.

Later, BJP minority cell's state president Amin Pathan went up to the dais to counter Azad's allegations, but he had to face resistance and mike was snatched from him.

BJP spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain, who was accompanying Singh, told reporters that the allegations levelled by Azad were baseless and Azad was doing politics on a wrong occasion.

Then they will attempt to prevent riots!
But sadly gruesome riots repeated again in 1992 in Mumbai 2002 Gujarat and in 2008 Orissa and Church attacks in Karnataka!

If genuine efforts are made to PREVENT riots, people will see and acknowledge.
Improvement/preventive signs will be:- people or groups will not target anyone on the basis of his religion, cast, or party but for his/her actions for all are Indians first!

The crime the politicians and its cronies have committed on the common man of this country is unbelievable. The politicians and the people in government circles have treated themselves above all human beings in India. Take the Sikh Riot, the Godhra riot, the babri Masjid riot which are too too difficult to forgive and forget. For such inhuman action we forgive and forget, then a new breed of politicians will exist to destroy the very existence of mankind. Such people who have destroyed the creation should be punished severely. All those involved in various should be named, shamed and jailed for life.

Past is Past, we have to think about future.
We all Hindus & Muslims the Indians first, so we should think of country`s development & growth. When India will develop, automatically all the religions/individuals of this country will grow. We have already faced congress era of last 10 yrs in a very bad manner. I don`t think not a single citizen of this country will cut my words. So, in such position, we all should vouch for BJP and make them win in coming Loksabha election, just for the sake of this country. We should not forget the period of Atal jee govt. and the growth story, atleast much better than Congress.

If we think only RSS or BJP supporters reacted, no congress supporters involved then it is as foolish as Rajnath Singh..During Mumbai riots i have seen it was congress corporators too involved in riots against Muslims.

People will forget only when all the guilty are properly punished either for their actions or for their inactions which contributed to the riots. A mere public apology is NOT ACCEPTABLE ! There has to be JUSTICE and REHABILITATION for all the victims and proper and full PUNISHIMENT(not just token punishment) for all the guilty.

If BJP or any other Political party, genuinely regrets the riots for ATROCITIES on innocents, first sign:

    i. In all riots, wrong doers are not punished, but wrong doers innocent community members.

ii. RIOTERS will tender unconditional apology, for they realised the wrong, will not repeat.

iii. They will ensure that in future riot instigators are silenced and punished.

iv. They will make efforts to build harmony to repair lost trust.

    v. Then forgiving for past is naturally happens.

BJP president telling Muslims to forget about Modi led godhara riots, is like Nazi party leader telling Jewish people to forget about Hitlers holocaust against Jews.

How can we trust the cold blooded murderer that the Sangh Parivar practice as their ideology?
First you change Sangh Parivar's core ideology then you appeal to the Muslims.

Unfortunately communal violence in India have been very disturbing to India's citizens, have been a part of India's history since many centuries. In 1986 two week long Ahmadabad communal violence's were during Congress rule in the Gujarat State. I believe the Chief Ministers, regardless of their party affiliations do not instigate these violence's, but these are by low life politicians. As the CM is the highest authority in the State Government, obviously CM takes the blame for any happening in the State.

BJP Party President Mr. Ranjit Singh's statement "We are trying to touch your hearts by love and affection and not by sense of fear. We want to build confidence among you," is most welcome one. Let it prevail.

Is this a regret statement from BJP for what they have done in Gujarat? If so, they should accept that they were responsible for the inhuman and barbaric action which they planned to win Gujarat!

We all Indians should understand that, we cannot rule India with communal ideology. May be BJP have almost realised now! We have 2 major parties in India Congress and BJP, but despite being one of the corrupt still Congress manages to rule! This is only because BJP simply cannot win on their communal ideology and their political marriage with BD, VHP, Lalit Modi, Rama Sene etc...!

Such a beautiful and one of the most blessed with natural resources and beautiful people with multi religion society we can be one of the best in the world if our politicians work with a positive frame of mind and agenda!

Mr Rajnath, why you have come to the position of begging with minorities. Before accepting any complaints from minorities, try to answer the question of Mahir Azad of minority commission, Do not run away like Modi ran away from Karan Thapar. Who ever has taken part in the 13,000 riots should be punished. Your party had ruled INDIA for six years, did you punish any one including 1984 sikh riot criminals. Why your party was sleeping ignoring the suffering of thousands of innocent victims. There is another BIG NEWS that the Police chief of GUJRAT Mr Pandey has been declared as absconder by the Gujrat High court in fake encounter cases.

WOW! Here's one more Joker who walks out when questions are posed to him like Modi.

Rajnath Singh did not answer to the questions posed to him then and there and he talks of solving the problems.

I swear. These guys played with lives of people and now with emotions.

When Modi did not accept and apologise that he was responsible for the riots - and Rajnath Singh begging to forget and ignore the incident - both things are contradicting.

The one and only simple question is - do you remember minorities when the election is nearing and you talk of solving their problems?

We all know that RSS which is a hardline anti minority group controls the whole BJP..So it won't help Mr. Rajnath and BJP by any means to show they are secular.

Jeevan your comment"You forget post godhra riots and we too forget 1947 incident". That means you accept Modi is responsible for killing thousands of Muslims in 2002. Let Modi accept this and ask for pardon, may be, may be people will forgive him.

WILL A SON FORGIVE WHEN HIS MOTHER IS SAVAGED AND KILLED IN FRONT OF HIM?
WILL A BROTHER FORGIVE IF HIS SISTER WAS SLAUGHTERED IN THE SAME FASHION?
WILL THE HAPLESS PARENTS (may not be there anymore) FORGIVE IF THEIR SIBLINGS WERE HACKED IN FRONT OF THEIR OWN EYES?
HOW CAN THIS UNCONNECTED POLITICIAN FROM FAR AWAY PLACE DARE TO SEEK PARDEN?
FIRST YOU PUNISH THE HIDING/FREELY ROAMING CULPRITS.
IF THAT INTENT IS GENUINE THEN THE STILL BURNING SCARS OF THE DIRECTLY AFFECTED BROTHERS AND SISTERS MAY HAVE SOME RESPITE AND CONSIDER THIS POSITION IN THE HONOUR OF EVER FORGIVING GOD.
