New Delhi, Jun 24 (IANS): Delhi legislators would give Rs.10 lakh each from their local development fund and one month's salary as aid to flood-ravaged Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit announced Monday.

Talking to reporters after a cabinet meeting, Dikshit said: "To provide help to flood-affected victims in Uttarakhand, we have decided that MLAs (legislators) would contribute their one month's salary and Rs.10 lakh from their respective MLALAD (Member of Legislative Assembly Local Area Development) Fund to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.'

She also urged Delhi government employees to contribute their one day salary in for the cause.

At the cabinet meeting, it was also decided that a round-the-clock helpline number (1077) will be made functional at the divisional commissioner's office here from Monday to provide help to the families whose members are stranded in Uttarakhand.

The cabinet further decided to depute a team of officers of Delhi government to Dehradun in order to keep close contact with the Uttarakhand government and their control room.
