Muscat, Jan 16: It was a thrilling experience of one of the best Kannada Musical extravaganza. Finest melodious waves thundered into the hearts and souls of Kannadigas, who came to witness a joyful show of music and singing. Kannada music with real golden touch of melody ignited the minds of the large and enthusiastic audience with an everlasting joy. Without any doubts, Bhava Sangama was a musical event of extraordinary classic feature of fine music of Karnataka.
The Karnataka wing of the Indian Social Club presented a fascinating musical event - Bhava Sangama by Karnataka’s renowned singers D. Aswath and M.D. Pallavi on January 12th 2006 at 7.00 pm at the Le Grand Hall of Al Falaj Hotel.
First and foremost, a strong word of appreciation should go to the committee members of the Karnataka wing of the Indian Social Club not only for presenting such a wonderful Musical event but also for the meticulous arrangements and commencing the program exactly on time, not even missing a minute.
Ahiraj Gururaj, President of Karnataka wing, man behind the show, welcomed the audience and musicians. Ever-enthusiastic speaker, Gireesh Rao introduced the artists with their short profiles and achievements.
Aswath, a household name in Karnataka, is a multi-talented musician liked by multitude of music lovers all over. He is regarded as one of the top music directors in Karnataka to exhibit the extraordinary ability in the three fields – theatre, Sugam Sangeeth and film. He had started his musical career as a disciple of Devagiri Shankararao Joshi in Hindustani Music.
Today, Aswath is very much synonym for Sugam Sangeeth in Karnataka and earns him a special place along with the legendary personalities like Kalingarao and Mysore Anantaswamy. As a composer he has brought refreshingly new approach to Sugam Sangeeth based on his proposition that the lyric is the most powerful element and the moving spirit behind the music in it.
Aswath has received many awards and accolades including prestigious state and national film awards, Filmfare award, State Government Award, Santa Shishunala Prashasthi (the highest state award) for his contribution to music in Karnataka.
Pallavi is a versatile singer, had shared the stage with S.P. Balasubramaniam, K. J. Yesudas, Ranjit Barot, Keith Peters, Taufiq Qureshi, Amit Heri, Vikram Ghosh. She has scored music for a number of theatre productions like Tughlaq, Moodha Idu Nambike, Sevanthi, Mooka Bali and Maanishada.
During the entire more than three hours Bhava Sangama event, C Aswath mesmerized the entire audience with his scintillating voice and mastery over Kannada Music. Pallavi with her marvelous golden voice sprinkled a melody with sensational songs. “Dhaari Yaavudayya” of Purandara Das, Banthu Shravanna of Da. Ra. Bendre, Naada Devi, Naaku tanthi, Mysore Mallige were some of the best songs containing finest melody and music. Marali Baa – a duet song with Pallavi ignited a joyful mood in the audience.
Aswath and Pallavi were ably supported by N. S. Prasad on Mandolin, Sudharshan on Base Guitar, Krishna Udupa on Keyboard, Sebastian Gerald on Rhythm pads, Jagadish on Tabla. Each and every one of these musicians were given a perfect blend to the evening.
Le Grand Hall – Al Falaj Hotel was full with audience and even after 3 ½ hours of melody filled show, the crowd was not showing the signs of leaving the hall.
When show ended around 10.30 pm, one of the active committee member, Shridar proposed vote of thanks.
