UAE, Russia discuss nuclear energy


St. Petersberg, Jun 28 (IANS/WAM): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Russia have bilateral relations in the area of nuclear energy.

The meet was held Thursday between visiting UAE Minister for Energy Suhail Al Mazrouie and Sergey Kirienko, director general of the Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation, Rosatom.

The UAE minister is in Russia to participate in the IAEA Ministerial Conference on Nuclear Power in the 21st Century which Russia is hosting from 27th - 29th June 2013.

The UAE and the Russian Federation last year signed a bilateral cooperation agreement in the field of peaceful nuclear energy as part of the UAE policy on the development of a national nuclear energy programme.
