Policeman killed in Kashmir gunfight


Srinagar, Jul 1 (IANS): A policeman was killed and two security personnel were injured Monday in a gunbattle between separatist guerrillas and security forces in south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Police said a patrol party of the security forces was fired upon in the morning when they were going to Mandoora (Tral) village in Pulwama district, 45 km from here.

"Three security men were injured in the militant attack. All the injured were shifted to the hospital. While one injured constable of the state police succumbed to injuries, the other two injured security men are a CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) trooper and a constable of special operations group.

"The militants have been engaged in a gunfight...," a senior police officer told IANS.
