Mangalore, Jan 19: Bar to Medal of Merit, the highest State honour for service in scouts has been awarded to U Gopalakrishna Bhat, teacher in St Aloysius High School, Mangalore. He has been guiding the younger generation through scout activities and also has been training the teachers not only in the district and State, but also in other states.
Bhat is a national-level trainer since 1989. Bhat was awarded Medal of Merit in 1998 and has been conferred with the Best Teacher of the district award in 2003 by the Education department.
Bhat is presently rendering service as honorary headquarters commissioner in Bharath Scouts and Guides, DK district.
