Mangalore, Jan 19: After the successful resuming of goods train service between Subrahmanya and Sakleshpur a few days ago, there were indications that the service will soon be extended to the city too. Now with the running of train on trial basis on Monday January 16, these indications have been proven true.
The railway sources said that the regular train service might start between the city and Sakleshpur from January 26. The gauge conversion work between the city and Sakleshpur has been successfully completed. A goods train laden with iron ore had come to New Mangalore Port on Monday January 16. The goods train with 40 wagons and 3 engines reached the city at 8 pm on Monday.
With this all the doubts regarding the resuming of train service between Sakleshpur and the city have been put to rest. However, the Railway Safety Commission is yet to conduct one more round of test. Once the commission gives the green signal, the train will chug off between the city and Sakleshpur. There are good indications that service will resume from Thursday January 26.
