Udupi, Jan 19: A 520-episode ‘Bharatayan’ based on the history of the country from 1857, will be aired by the Prasar Bharathi by the year 2007, in commemoration of the birth of country’s public broadcast system ‘Akashvani’. This was announced by M V Kamat, chairman, Prasar Bharathi, at a press conference at Manipal near here.
Kamat was the chairman at a two-day board meeting of Prasar Bharathi. He informed that the main purpose of the project was to make aware the younger generation of the country’s history.
The programme will be aired five days a week in three parts. The episodes will mostly be in-house productions and will be both in dramatized and documentary versions and would be in Hindi, with sub-titles in regional languages. Each episode would cost from Rs 8 lac to Rs 10 lac based on the format.
