Al Qaeda kills rebel commander in Syria

Damascus, Jul 13 (IANS/AKI): A member of the rebel Free Syrian Army's Supreme Military Council has been killed, allegedly by the Al Qaeda.

The rebel command has also received many threats from the terror network.

Mohammed Kamal al-Hamami -- also known as Abu Bassel al-Ladkani -- was meeting leaders from Iraq in the port city of Latakia when he was killed, FSA spokesman Qassem Saadeddine said.

"We must take the necessary measures on all levels, and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant brigades should hand us over those who killed Hamami, so we can hold them accountable," another FSA spokesman, Louay Almokdad, told Al Arabiya.
