China's power consumption goes up


Beijing, Jul 15 (IANS): China's electricity consumption rose 6.3 percent year on year to 438.4 billion kilowatt hours in June, the National Energy Administration (NEA) said.

The growth rate was 2 percentage points higher than a year earlier, the NEA said in a statement on its website Sunday.

In the first six months, power consumption increased 5.1 percent from the same period last year to 2.5 trillion kilowatt hours, reported Xinhua citing the NEA.
