100 school kids caught drinking at Gurgaon pub, owner gets bail

Gurgaon, Jul 15 (IANS): The owner and manager of a pub arrested for serving liquor to around 100 school students at a "sex-and-smoke" party secured bail from a court Monday, police said.

The chief judicial magistrate granted bail to owner Milap Singh, 30, and manager Anil Chahar, 32, after they furnished surety of Rs.45,000 each, police officer Hardeep Singh Hooda said.

The Buzz-inn pub at the DLF City Centre Mall on Mehrauli-Gurgaon road was raided by police Sunday after a tip that alcohol and hookahs had been provided to teenagers illegally.

Milap Singh and Chahar belong to Jhajjar district in Haryana. The school students were in the age group 14 to 18 years.

Police and excise department officials broke the "sex-and-smoke" party hosted by a student of Class 11 at a school here in Sector 15. His father, a senior government official, is posted in Gurgaon.

The host reportedly created a community page, Sex, Smoke and Rock and Roll, on Facebook and invited friends to the party. Of the more than 3,500 friends, over 100 boys and girls responded after paying Rs.600 each.

Police said the students were let off after their parents were informed.

"We have challaned the pub under the Excise Act and have sent our report... Senior officials will decide if the pub should be fined or sealed with the option of suspending or cancelling its license," said excise inspector Subhash Kaushik.

This is the second time a pub was raided for serving liquor to minors.

On Dec 25, 2010, a pub at Sahara Mall was raided when 80 students were at a similar party. The pub was sealed for a few days and the owner got away with a fine of Rs.80,000.

Sorry state of affairs at Gurgaon with 100 school kids caught drinking in pub.Lack of guidance from parents and heavy money with the children to spend is the root cause. The present media really one of the reasons for all these unwanted incidents. If we don't take proper corrective steps, our youth bound to get spoiled beyond repair.Hope, the parents and the schools do the needful to stop it in total.Thanq.

Oh… it’s happened in non-BJP Government in Haryana. This is the same Government along with Rajasthan who twisted and amended the rule to favour someone in 10th Janpath Road Bunglow to own more land than stipulated as per earlier law that also with throw away price. In this case most of our friends do not have problem with this pub. Had it happened in Kar-Nataka during BJP rule, entire team from Delhi and neighboring States would have camped in our Government owned Guest house to blame BJP for everything.

This is, pain in Indian politics. When some thing happens the opposition will tell we want re election or Chief Minister or any minister has to resign. Just I want to know how it will cost the tax payers for each election. Do you think any politicians are spending their own money. Only thing is No one has to support the culprits even if he belongs to his own party or relative, and our rulers has to make proper rules to avoid such cases in future.

This is our new tech ideas specially the younger generation get much involved . Now a days it is a mobile era and it is very easy way to connect each other through facebook whatsapp skype and so many without knowing personally. Sometime too much freedom to the children without knowing/following their activities is the main cause were we lose our grip to our children some time a temporary and sometime it is for permanent. To say Blaming the govts/others I think we just ignore or escape or deviate from our prime duties as parents towards our children and their unknown activities!!!.

Nagesh , the government may object of Dance Bar or liquor ( just see SC given verdict that in Maharashtra Dance bar’s are allowed). This SC judgment against Maharastra Government because the Hotel and Bar owners asked the SC allow to run the bars. So please for each and everything don’t jump on ruling Government. In this case you are blaming Government why? The children attended party without the knowledge of parents. If your own children goes to some illegal place, you will only blame the Government. We have control our children. As per rule below 25 years of age no body is allowed to serve liquor. Only thing is now Government has to punish the bar owners but our some lawyers(liars) will come to protect them.

Better cancel the license of such pubs so that other pubs will not dare do it in future.
Most of the high end boxer controlled pubs in and around Delhi have gone totally out of control. Rich -rich dudes, corporate managers, Russians, female models, B-Grade actress, college girls and Central European girls are exchanging expensive booze and high monitory stake inside such pubs. Delhi, Haryana and UP Govt know very well about these happenings still the power and big bucks controls all such illegal activities.

SERVING LIQUOR AND TOBACCO TO 100 CHILDREN WITHIN 18 YEARS OF AGE IS PARAMOUNT TO MURDER.
THE OWNER IF HE IS DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE MUST BE PUT BEHIND JAIL FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 YEARS.
DARING ACTS LIKE THIS ARE ENCOURAGED BY THE EUNUCHISM OF OUR LAW MAKERS AND THE CALLOUSNESS FOR THE ACTS OF THEIR OWN CHILDREN.
100 ENCOURAGED ROGUE CHILDREN WITH THE BACKING OF IRRESPONSIBLE RICH AND POWERFUL PARENTS CAN VREATE HAVOC ON THE STREETS OF GURGAON NOT LIMITED TO RAPES AND MURDERS.

Every thing must happen at the right age ...How ever much every one may disagree with me ,14 years is NOT the appropriate age to frolic at the local pub.

You never are wrong Nagesh Nayak - its true that the pocket money the children got to go for this gathering is given by the Congress Party. The web-connection that the children got access is paid by Congress and the chatting time they spent on the net that arranged such a gathering is allotted by the Congress Party.

I am ready for a bet - Nagesh Nayak can never be wrong ! Because, when such modern, trendy, activities involved, only comes to the fore is the government that rules a particular city - no tradition, no culture, none at all !

    Dinesh,

Please allow me to modify your sentence a bit - If the parents can allow their children to such gathering, why make a fake protest when rapes happen ?

Had the police not raided the place and handed over the children to their parents, this incident too would have gone unnoticed. Then, shouldn't physical abuse too have let gone unnoticed ? Prove me wrong that the children came to this gathering after well informing their parents ! If not, where would the entry fee come from ?

No cultured Indian parents allow their kids to go to Pub. It is Govt's duty not to allow children inside pubs. Govt should make strict rule. Just because Govt gets revenue from liquor, it should not be fed to children or kids.

What a silly comment. This raid was conductced by the police which is the a law enforcement agency enshrined in the constitution. This was not a molestation exercise by jobless chaddies as dictated from the Chaddi head office in Nagpur. Therefore there is nobody who will complain of moral policing here.
