Mangalore, Jan 23: In another daylight theft, 200 sovereign of gold was stolen from a car that was parked in front of a wedding hall at Kasargod here on Sunday January 22 afternoon.

Illias, a resident of Mogral and his family had come to Kasargod to attend the wedding of one of their relatives.  The family members before going to the wedding hall kept their gold ornaments in a box, which they placed under the back seat of their car.

But when they came back, they found that someone had opened their car by removing the beading of the front door.  Upon checking they found out that the ornaments had been stolen along with the box.  The family members had brought all their ornaments to place them in a bank locker.  Since it was Sunday, Illias planned to go to his in-laws' house after the wedding before keeping the ornaments in a bank locker on Monday January 23.

Since the parking lot of the wedding hall had been fully occupied, Illias had parked his car in a secluded place, which proved handy for the thieves.

A case has now been filed in the Kasargod town police station in this regard.
