Restrictions in Kashmir district after violence

Srinagar, Jul 24 (IANS): Authorities imposed restrictions in some areas of central Kashmir's Badgam district Wednesday after overnight incidents of arson and sectarian violence.

Police said restrictions on movement of people and traffic were imposed after nearly two dozen houses were torched by violent mobs following sectarian clashes in the area.

Kashmir's Divisional Commissioner Shailender Kumar and Kashmir's Inspector General of Police Abdul Gani Mir visited the areas, where the Central Reserve Police Force has now been deployed.
