Lucknow, Jul 30 (IANS): A man gunned down his mother and brother in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri district before pulling the trigger on himself following a bitter property feud, police said.
The incident took place Monday in the Pradeura village of Mitauli area where the village chief Sanjay Verma was locked in a property dispute with his brother Sandeep Verma.
Two days back the duo had an ugly spat over the ancestral property but they were pacified by neighbours and other villagers.
On Monday, Sanjay went to his ancestral home along with his mother Pushpa Verma and asked her to intervene in the matter. When she refused, an incensed Sandeep shot dead his mother and brother.
Inspector General of Police (IG) Lucknow Subhash Chandra told IANS that the assailant then reached his home and turned the weapon on himself and committed suicide. The bodies have been sent for post mortem examination.
The triple murder has numbed the village.
