Moodbidri, Jan 29: A de-addiction camp jointly organized by the Navashakti Samiti, in association with CODP Mangalore, Watershed committee - Muduperar, Kripa Foundation, St Xavier Church - Ferar Church, Nirmala Niketan Convent - Ferar and Padu Perar panchayat in the premises of the Nirmala Niketan Convvent was inaugurated by CODP director Fr Onil D'Souza by pouring milk and honey on the fresh areca flower.
Speaking on the occasion he said the prayer only gives strength to get the evil habits out of us and come out the evil habits inside the individuals and the divine inspiration gives strength to the person who prays.
As part of the 10-day de-addiction camp, different training programmes were also launched on 28th. Inaugurating the training camp session, Pingara editor Raymond D'Cunha said prayer is a must to come out of any habit.
CODP co-ordinator Victor Kadandale, Umanath Padiyar, Sr Juliana of Shubada and Nirmala Niketan convent superior Sr Rose were on the dais.

The de-addiction camp committee headed Ferar parish priest as honorary president, local GP member Krisha Amin as president, Umanath Padiyar as secretary, local teacher Precilla Sequeira as joint secretary, Raphael D'Souza as treasurer and Victor Kadandale as CORP co-ordinator.
Ferar church has donated 4 quintals of firewood and Rs 2,500 cash and other assistance. There are 26 from different communities being reformed and being taught how to shun the alcoholic habit.
The camp may involve an expense of Rs 50,000 and all expenses have been met by the local donors in cash or kind of their home produces like coconut, chilli, coconut oil, firewood, sugar, salt, rice, vegetables etc.
CODP is understood to be planning to hold the next camp at Mudipu church area under the initiative of Fr Andrew D'Souza.
