Five die as wall collapses in China

Beijing, Aug 2 (IANS): Five workers were killed and five others injured in two separate accidents at a construction site in south China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, authorities said Friday.

Three people were buried when an earth-retaining wall at a road construction site collapsed around 8.30 a.m. Thursday at the Yanzishan wind farm in the city of Guilin, reported Xinhua citing a statement.

Another seven were buried when another collapse occurred while the rescuers were trying to save the three, said the statement.

The dead workers hailed from the neighbouring Guangdong province. The injured workers are receiving treatment at two different hospitals.
