Bangalore, Aug 6 (IANS): State-run Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has become the first defence behemoth to sign an agreement with Transparency International India (TII) to adopt its integrity pact, a top official said.
"As we deal with hundreds of domestic and overseas vendors for goods and services, the agreement with TII will set higher standards in our operations," HAL chairman R.K. Tyagi said in a statement here Tuesday, a day after signing the pact in New Delhi.
The $2.8-billion state-run aerospace major has similar pacts with 115 vendors, including 85 overseas firms and 30 Indian.
"The pact with TII ensures that all activities and transactions with government departments and suppliers are conducted in fair and transparent manner," Tyagi asserted.
TII will support the Bangalore-based public enterprise by offering advice and resources to implement the integrity pact.
