New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): India "cannot be cowed down by such blatant acts of deceit", Congress president Sonia Gandhi said over the killing of five soldiers by Pakistanis in Jammu and Kashmir, a party statement said Tuesday.
"India cannot be cowed down by such blatant acts of deceit," the statement quoting Gandhi said.
She expressed "deep grief and shock at the deceitful killing of five Indian solders by Pakistan at the LoC in Jammu & Kashmir".
Five Indian soldiers were killed early Tuesday when Pakistani troops intruded into Jammu and Kashmir and ambushed an army patrol.
Sonia Gandhi also "extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the martyred soldiers".
"The entire Congress party as indeed the entire country stands by them," Gandhi said.
Gandhi also asked the "government to take appropriate action".
