BJP activists protest soldiers' killing

New Delhi, Aug 6 (IANS): Over 500 activists of the BJP's youth wing Tuesday evening were stopped here while marching towards the house of Defence Minister A.K. Antony to protest against the killing of five Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

The members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing had started from Motilal Nehru Place in central Delhi but they were stopped a few meters away from the minister's residence on Krishna Menon Marg, police said.

The protestors led by the BJP youth wing president Anurag Thakur climbed the barricades, raising anti-government slogans, police said.

To disperse the crowd, water cannon was used and some protestors were detained, police said.

In a post midnight attack, a Non-Commissioned Officer and four soldiers were killed when the attackers, including men in Pakistani military uniform, barged into Indian territory and ambushed an army patrol at Chakan-da-Bagh sector of the Line of Control (LoC), which divides Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
