Imposter doctor held for molesting patient

Bhubaneswar, Aug 7 (IANS): A man, who posed as a doctor, was arrested for allegedly molesting a patient in a state-run hospital in Odisha, police said Wednesday.

He was arrested Tuesday after a nurse lodged a complaint.

Accused Karunakar Mohanty (36) works as a junior laboratory technician at Sriram Chandra Bhanja (SCB) Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, 26 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar.

Mangalabag police station inspector-in-charge S.K. Sarifuddin told IANS that Mohanty allegedly entered the gynaecology ward in an inebriated condition Tuesday and molested a 28-year-old woman, recuperating after delivery.

The man had allegedly procured a doctor's identity card and on the pretext of conducting routine check-up, touched the patient's private parts.

The on-duty nurse rushed to the spot upon hearing the cries of the patient and her attendants.
