For NRIs, Jayalalithaa is the best PM contender

New Delhi, Aug 7 (IANS): Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa is the most qualified to become India's next prime minister, followed closely by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, a survey conducted among NRIs and released here Wednesday has revealed.

With a score of 86 out of 100, Jayalalithaa ruled the roost and Modi got 81 marks.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi came in third with a score of 53 while other leaders like Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and BJP leader L.K. Advani could not even secure the basic score to enter the survey.

"We asked 10 basic questions to shortlist the contenders and only Modi, Jayalalithaa and Rahul Gandhi were able to secure the basic score to enter the survey," Pon Mohaideen Pitchai, a non-resident Indian (NRI) and one of the researchers told IANS.

Around 5,000 NRIs from eight countries including Saudi Arabia, Australia, Britain, Canada and Singapore were interviewed for the "NRI Political research Report" and evaluated the leaders on 10 criterions like education, experience, mass support, world network and leadership skills.

The 2002 communal riots in Gujarat and the internal bickering of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over Modi seemed to affect the opinions of the NRIs too as Modi lost out to Jayalalithaa in areas like faith in secular democracy and party influence.

"She (Jayalalithaa) has an influence over her part whereas it's the other way round when it comes to Modi. Not everyone in his party supports his PM dream," said Pitchai.

Both of Leaders are limited to regioonal level only , as on today they never hold any positional national level . The PM position a responsible position. Again International level both the leaders are less popular in terms of foreign relations.

I am sure this survey is skewed. Who did the survey, what is the authenticity - not known.
Saudi has Malayalee majority. Europe and US has sizeable Gujaratis and Punjabis. Canada has Punjabi majority. Only Singapore has Tamil majority. I don't think non- Tamils will opt for Jayalalitha.
Having said that she is an intelligent and capable woman no doubt. Given a free hand to run, she could do good job.

Just like Rajya Sabha Seat the PM post also should be auctioned. Then Vijay Mallya will surely try for it. As it is every year he freely distributes his new year Nude calender to all MPs in Delhi and they are all very pleased by that.

These survey results look like sponsored and tailor made by the interested parties. Why we need to give any importance for these survey because these are not the final results but the real results are after the election. If these survey results are misguiding the voters, then better our supreme court impose total ban on it.Hope for the best.Thanq.

So many contenders for P.M. Post!

By 2014, I think all M.P.'s will claim eligibility to become P.M.

In 5 years term, we will have 60 Prime Ministers all parties shall have a fair representation to occupy P.M.'s chair.
