Shirva, Feb 1: The solemn vespers of the parish feast began at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, January 31 near Syndicate Bank.
The ceremony began with the Rosary followed by the blessing of the "Cherel" (palanquin or carriage) of Our Lady of Health. Then it was brought to the church in a solemn procession.
It was followed by the ceremony of the Word of God led by Rev Joseph Rodrigues. Besides many guest priests and religious, about 2,500 took part in the prayers to thank the 'Saude Mai' for the intercession.
The religious ceremony was followed by fireworks display and the huge crowd enjoyed themselves at the celebrations till 10.30 p.m. The beautiful lightings, decoration and the huge fair were the attraction of the day.
There was a big rush in the fair where special watermelons were being sold.
