Mamata's eight security men injured in accident

Kolkata, Aug 10 (IANS): Eight police personnel, part of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's security entourage, were Saturday injured in a road accident near her residence.

The men were inside a police kiosk when a bus, over which the driver lost control, hit them. The driver of the bus has been arrested.

"The brake of the bus failed, and it was being driven very slowly. There were no passengers. But somehow, it went out of control and hit the policemen," the bus conductor said.

Banerjee, who visited the injured admitted to the government-run SSKM Hospital, said their condition was stable but they would be moved to a private nursing home.

"Their condition is now stable. But due to space crunch at the SSKM, the injured are being moved to a private nursing home," Banerjee said.

Two of the injured are in critical condition.

The chief minister also asked police to take steps to prevent accidents due to over-speeding and other related causes.
