Floods kill 20 people near Kabul


Kabul, Aug 11 (IANS): At least 20 people have lost their lives in heavy rains and floods that washed away hundreds of houses as well as farmland in Kabul region, an official said Sunday.

Incessant downpour has severely hit Shakardara and Paghman districts of Kabul province, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chief Mohammad Dayem Kakar told Xinhua.

Heavy rains last week claimed 69 lives in Sarobi district, 60 km from Kabul, and in Nangarhar and Khost provinces.
