Modi flags off BJP poll campaign with 'India first' slogan

Hyderabad, Aug 11 (IANS): Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi Thursday flagged off Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign for 2014 elections with a call to rid the country of the Congress and the slogan of 'India first'.

Addressing a mammoth public meeting, the first after he took over as chairman of BJP's campaign committee, Modi said development was the foundation of his vision of India.

Unveiling his vision of the government, he said its only religion should be 'India first', its mantra should be the Constitution, its belief should be 'Bharat Bhakti', its power should be people's power and its worship should be the welfare of 125 crore people.

Modi ended his 45-minute long address by repeating Barack Obama's famous words 'Yes we can'. He asked the audience to repeat with him "Yes we can. Yes we will do", "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and "Vande Mataram".

Thousands of people, mostly youth, attended the meeting at L. B. Stadium. It was the first of 100 such meetings planned by BJP in the run-up to polls.

The Gujarat chief minister said the path of development alone can change India's destiny.

"Solution to all our problem lies in development and in the welfare of all sections of people but Congress is not ready to tread on this path," he said.

Modi slammed Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government for what he called its all-round failure, corruption and vote bank politics.

Targeting the government for its foreign policy, he came down heavily on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for his silence over the killing of Indian soldiers by Pakistani army.

"When five Indian soldiers were beheaded the prime minister had said if such an incident takes place again, we will give fitting reply to Pakistan. This week Pakistani soldiers gun down our men. People are asking the government why Pakistan is continuing the excesses and why this country of 125 crore is silently tolerating," he said.

On the violence in Kishtwar, Modi said this could be a conspiracy to repeat in Jammu what is happening in Kashmir Valley for last three decades. He said the Jammu and Kashmir government stopped BJP leader Arun Jaitley from visiting Kishtwar to suppress the facts.

Modi had a dig at food security bill, saying the Congress had to bring it as it impoverished the people. He said the party was now using the word inclusive growth because it always excluded people from development.

Its high time that we stop getting too much exited at non-productive speeches of political bluff-masters and continue to become fools at the hands of rogue politicians like our past generation did by electing un-educated, non-productive, opportunists and rogue elements to represent us at state & national level. Just imagine 60% of our current law makers from all national parties have criminal background. Koyi doodh ka dhula nahin hai !!! Several cases are pending against them in the court of law are adjourned or witnesses against them are manipulated to favor them by using political influence & power. Pls stop getting mis-guided by these type of people who are screaming at the top of their voices at public gathering & play the blame game at the cost of national security interests. All of us must understand the actual purpose of these kinds of showbaazi & gimmicks are only to grab power to put their hands on the gravy train that runs at the center out of tax payers money and not for the purpose of serving people who elect them. Being the largest democracy of the world, if we are still struggling to make progress even after 60 years of independence then we ourselves are responsible for this situation. Our past generations made repeated mistakes of becoming fools easily by coming under the influence of rogue political elements, electing wrong people to power to look-after the country's administrative affairs. Dont you think our representatives should have minimum qualifications, knowledge of basic administrative skills as also the basic knowledge of portfolios they hold in order to make right decisions at right time?? Otherwise, we still continue to remain as we are today even after 100 years down the line. We all know that current political scenario cannot be changed overnight. But why not we begin with questioning the politicians at public meetings that, okay !! you said they're not competent enough and we agree that past administrations have failed to meet the expectations. What contingency plan do you have to revive the situation without making further damage to country's interests ?? and to build lost confidence of the people of our great nation? Analyze their instant reaction & replies to the questions related to current situations. Anybody who has remedial strategies & answers to the current mess-up can only qualify to entrust the responsibility of reviving our country from going further down and to represent us at the national level. Not those who just bluff around misguiding people by playing the blame game. They will continue the same blame game to cover-up their own possible failures in future if elected to power. We will not reach anywhere and remain in hanging position forever. If we still want to continue to become fools and elect these kind of bluff-masters, then we prove that we are living in fools paradise. Even GOD cannot help our country as HE has given us brains to use it !!!. and we are hell-bent on not u

What I liked best about Modi's speech today was the intelligent, mature, statesman-like manner in which he handled the Telangana-Seemandhra issue. No taking sides, no rabble-rousing, no pandering to low and base regionalism, but instead pure nation-building, trust-building and statesmanship. Only one political leader in the whole of India today could have the guts, the good sense and the statesmanship to soothe the ugly and bitter feelings amongst the youth of Telangana and Seemandhra, and gotten them to remember brotherhood, a shared linguistic and cultural heritage, our one single united country, and gotten everybody to chant "Jai Telangana" and "Jai Seemandhra" simultaneously, from the same platform, in Hyderabad, a city as torn as Andhra Pradesh itself, in today's troubled and critical times. Like he said, the idea behind smaller states is better governance and more efficient administration which is why Modi wants more states, and not to divide people or create votebanks which is the Congress' divide-and-rule strategy behind more states.

If you ask me, THIS is what it means to be a leader (one who leads and transforms public opinion for the greater good, rather than one who simply follows populist whims and fancies), and THIS is why Modi is the leader India awaits today.

There is no dearth of failures of Congress, UPA and Sonia.. almost everything is a failure, many times TRAGIC failures... Dividing Hindus and Muslims.. even if it means people killing each other... Rank communalism by Congress Price rise: horrible Corruption: himalayan amounts 2G, Adarsh, Commonwealth, Coalgate, Vadra,... Being afraid of China Appeasing Pakistan Rupee Value: Going downhill very, very fast... Misuse of CBI Misuse of Governor's positions Systematically breaking down all good Constitutional organizations.. Signing huge, really huge contracts with foreign governments at a mind-boggling space in the last year.. since it is in the last year, the purpose is not to see that they are implemented, but get a good cut and commission in dollars..(aircraft nuclear reactors, etc.) Huge money stashed in Swiss accounts.. Helping Quatrochchi with all his bribe moneys.. imagine a government helping a criminal get his bank account with bribe money defrozen.. (just because he is a co-criminal along with Rajiv and Sonia) I am hard put to think of even one good thing done by Congress, Sonia and UPA to this country...

Mr Modi in right earnest candidly dealt with prevailing burning issues in India. Concerns and sensitivities of issues were deftly analyzed threadbare in clearly conveying terms by Mr Modi on his maiden election speech in Hyderabad. Main emphasis was to get India rid from self perpetuating serial syndicated scandalous swindling mega corruptions of congress cronies who have mismanaged fiscal configurations of India rendering countrymen helpless for fending basic necessity of routine existence. Deficient defense responses to perpetual provocative incursion of Pakistan in J&K were also highlighted On the whole Narendera Modi interacted & gelled well with the Hyderabad audience at their specifically individualistic levels to inspire them as more confidants & assured of their future dreams.

I challenge that the Most powerful three leaders of the Congress- Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi collectively on one platform will never come to the political stature of Modi in India today and at this moment. The simply will seal their lips and not give any rely to any of the questions Modi has posed to them The very definitive indicator of his popularity and Personality was such that there was no place in the stadium and people had to stand out and see and hear him on the giant TV Screens. This was a kind of the meeting that can really petrify congress.. And remember- the meeting was in Andhra Pradesh where never any BJP leaders has ever made any impression..This endorses his popularity across the Nation and not merely confided to Gujarat. People have already started believing in him as the future Prime Minister who can deliver. Congress has just one dead. stale issue of Gujarat riots 12 years beck that they have so far used against him so much that it has lost its edge. Even Sharad Yadav is also using this..but now people of tired to even hear that. and next time this can even backfire for Congress.
