Mangalore, Feb 3: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) will soon add more buses to the fleet of pollution-free buses of the DK district. It was after introducing the Rajahamsa and Airavat series of comfort-buses that the KSRTC planned to introduce environment-friendly buses- Parisara Vahini. An additional 30 such buses are expected to hit the roads of the district.
The Mangalore division has about 56 Parisara Vahini buses plying to Dharmasthala, Puttur and Uppinangady from Mangalore. A proposal to add these buses to the Puttur section to provide service to places like Subrahmanya, Vittal, Uppinangady and Sullia.
Parisara Vahini buses have a tubular body with sturdy vinyl flooring and velvet cushions, and the seat frames are designed to provide sufficient legroom. An aerodynamic shape reduces air resistance. The added features are the automatic doors and the absence of congestion. The bus, which follows Euro II norms, is a pollution-free vehicle.
