Antony condoles sailors' deaths in submarine tragedy


Mumbai, Aug 14 (IANS): Defence Minister A.K. Antony Wednesday expressed the nation's solidarity with the Indian Navy which lost submarine INS Sindhurakshak following an explosion. The minister also mourned the deaths of the 18 naval personnel who were feared dead in the accident.

Addressing the media here along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Indian Navy chief Admiral D.K. Joshi, Antony said the navy has ordered setting up of a board of inquiry to probe the tragedy.

"I express my heartfelt condolences to families of sailors who were inside the submarine. We will render all possible assistance and relief to members of sailors' families," Antony said.
