Delhi CM asks people to conserve water

New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS): Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday called on the people of the city to conserve water, saying there is a limit to the natural resource.

"I appeal to the people not to waste water. There are constraints to the quantity of water we get from the Himalayas and Uttarakhand," Dikshit said in her address on Independence Day.

She said her government would be the first to introduce the food security scheme, under which 73 lakh people would be covered. It would be implemented in Delhi from Aug 20, she said.

"Food will be easily available to the people belonging to the below poverty line category," she said.
