Mangalore, Feb 4: Yekkur Baba alias Shubhakar Shetty, the prime accused in the Prithvipal Rai murder case, has been acquitted by the fast track court here on Friday February 3.
It was accused in the chargesheet that one Venugopal Naik and Sadashiv Alva had given a contract for Rs 2 lac to Yekkur Baba to get rid of Prithvipal Rai. Accordingly, Yekkur Baba with the help of hired killers, Koragappa, Harish and Shivram alias Shiva had hacked Prithvipal Rai to death near Mangala Bar at Mudipu.
The Fast Track court wherein the case came for hearing acquitted Yekkur Baba from the case on the ground that the prosecution failed in proving the accused guilty.
In the meantime, Venugopal Naik too was murdered, allegedly by the henchmen of Prathvipal Rai’s group. This case too has come for hearing in the court.
