Tension with India is reducing: Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 16 (IANS): Pakistan Friday said all channels of communication are open with India and new signals coming from the eastern neighbour indicate that tensions are reducing.

Pakistani foreign ministry spokesman Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry said diplomatic, military and trade channels are some of the means through which both countries have communications, Xinhua reported.

"Pakistan's policy is based on restraint, responsibility and dialogue," he said.

Tensions increased over exchange of fire along the Line of Control in Kashmir in recent days.

The Pakistani foreign ministry said the government has conveyed its concerns about the LoC ceasefire violations to India.

When asked if Pakistan would grant the status of Most Favoured Nation to India, the spokesman said there is need to build consensus with stakeholders in Pakistan.

He said Pakistan is committed to normalising trade relations with India and will try to further expand these.
