Mangalore Feb 5: Which is the best way to give budding talent the much required boost? The answer is -Provide it ample opportunities and the right forum for display.

This is what the Mangalore Institute of Fashion Technology (MIFT) did on Saturday in the city.
Taking an innovative step, the institute organized Palette 06, an exhibition of the various paints, sketch work and craft of its students. One may wonder what have the students of this institute to do with these art forms, while their core subjects are garment designing, fashion designing and so on.

“We want our students develop all their potentials for which ample opportunity is provided. The exhibition is one such initiative, said founder chairman of MIFT to Daijiworld. He further added that any actively or talent related to utilizing creativity of the students must be encouraged which further helps in the development of multi skills.

Organized in the NGO Hall at the Taluk Panchayat campus, the exhibition was successful in providing a platform to the budding artists of the institute.



A stroll around the huge hall unfolded a world of art where every students works were placed with due respect.

Landscapes, paper pulp embossing highlighting the Indian woman, a replica of the traditional paintings of Mysore, water colour and oil colour paintings, crafts made of water colour, paper, grains and fabric pieces, pincer sketchings were a part of the exhibition of over 60 master pieces.

The sand work by Melvin of II semester, the picture of a lady made of buttons and pins by Anusha Rai were the main attraction of the event along with Warli works, a folk art of Maharastra.


The exhibition also had an attractive display of works of the students like carving and artifacts made of eggs and green grams.

The event was inaugurated by School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya principal Jacinta D’Souza will inaugurate the exhibition, while Pandeshwar circle Inspector Venkatesh Prasanna will be the chief guest.
The exhibition will be open till Sunday February 6.
