Three buried in China landslide

Beijing, Aug 17 (IANS): Three people were buried in two landslides Saturday in south China's Guangxi Zhuang region, authorities said.

The first landslide occurred around 1.50 a.m. in Hongshan village, Xinhua cited fire service officials as saying.

A house was toppled by the landslide, burying a man, witnesses said.

The second landslide occurred around 3.50 a.m. in Sifeng village and buried two people.

Both landslides were believed to have been caused by downpour brought by Typhoon Utor.

The typhoon, the 11th to hit China this year, has left six people dead and affected nearly 500,000 in seven cities, the civil affairs department said. It has caused an economic loss of 111 million yuan (around $18 million).
