Rajnath tells BJP units not to pass Modi-for-PM resolutions

New Delhi, Aug 19 (IANS): Indicating disapproval of the resolution by BJP's Bihar unit seeking Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi be declared the party's prime ministerial candidate, party chief Rajnath Singh Sunday told state units not to pass such motions, party sources said.

They said that Bharatiya Janata Party president touched the issue during his address at the party's election campaign committee meeting here Sunday and said there was no need for such resolutions. Modi was present at the meeting.

The sources said that Rajnath Singh told the gathering, which included state unit chiefs, that the leadership was seized of the question of prime ministerial candidate and "a call will be taken in the interest of the party".

"The party president conveyed that states should not force the issue and not pass such resolutions," a party leader told IANS.

BJP's Bihar unit had adopted a resolution urging the BJP central parliamentary board to make the announcement on Modi as prime ministerial candidate. Modi is the chief of campaign committee for BJP for the 2014 elections.

Party sources said that the leadership has apprehensions that such resolutions can create problems as it would amount to forcing a decision on an issue which is in domain of central leadership.

They said that there was even a remote possibility of state units differing in their recommendations of prime ministerial candidate which would present a picture of disunity in the party.

The BJP has said that a decision on prime ministerial candidate will be taken by the parliamentary board at an appropriate time.

Advani praises Modi at BJP meet

Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani Sunday praised Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at the party's election committee meeting here, party sources said.

The praise came three days after he disapproved Modi's criticism of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's speech on the Independence Day, saying that it was not the day to criticize each other.

In his concluding remarks at the meeting, Advani praised Modi for his emphasis on strengthening the party at the booth level and reaching out to each voter, party sources said.

"He (Advani) endorsed speech of Modi," a party leader said.

Advani had resigned his key party posts in June, a day after Modi's elevation as chief of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) campaign committee for the 2014 elections. However, he decided not to press his resignation after the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh intervened.

BJP sources also said Modi in his speech said that 160 representatives from minority community had been elected on a BJP ticket to local bodies in Gujarat and asked the party cadre to reach out to all sections, including Muslims.

I have read your earlier write ups - you write so well. But need not be to my liking.
This I am sure is a typo but still - you are asking us and the PM to shout our mouths (shut of course) and keep quiet!!. Take it as "shut".
You were and still praising Modi so much when he lambasted, screeched and shouted at the top of his voice during that out of context speech on Independence day. But then you are asking our PM not to shout and keep his mouth shut - why is that? Is it a monopoly of Modi?
Anyway our PM is not at all uncivilized and he will not shout\lambast but project everything in a manner all civilized people can understand.

As far as the rampant corruption at the center, who is stopping anyone to take action against those involved in corruption like it was done in Karnataka. It was proved and more will be proved and then we talked about it and will keep talking about it because they are all proven facts.
You and others prove that corruption at the center and then you shout\scream as much as you want. No problem at all. Until then do not keep on saying corruption, corruption and corruption. It has no meaning at all.
None of the Ministers or PM went to jail or were pulled up by the courts for that corruptions you are making up....!!!

before making such dialogues, you must give some time to educate yourself regarding the 'meaning' of accused. Merely being accused does not make one guilty of a crime. No court of law in India, has till date, held MODI to be guilty of any crime that he has
been accused of, a full 10 years
after Gujarat. If you are still so sure that he was indeed the man behind it all, then it is the Congress led UPA which has failed to deliver justice to you.

Dont forget 25 simi activist from congress minority cell burnt the godhra train which led to riot in gujarat. 380 hindus were also killed . in police firing 100 rioters were killed. why is congress not held responsible ? those congress man are in jail

Now everybody comes to know Advaniji and Modiji..are two faces of same coin..!! Everybody wants Modiji as Prime Minister as like earlier demanded during Sardar Vallabhai Patel..!! More of other parties are going to join in coming days with NDA..!! More of chances are more Sushma Swaraj will be the candidate for NDA..for some time..and handedover to latter Narendra Modiji..to attract other parties..!! Jai Ho..Modiji.
