Parliament pays tributes to Sindhurakshak victims


New Delhi, Aug 19 (IANS): Both houses of parliament Monday paid tributes to the victims of the Aug 14 tragedy in which naval submarine INS Sindhurakshak sank in Mumbai harbour and all 18 naval personnel on board were killed.

As both the houses met, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari separately read out a condolence message and expressed grief over the tragedy.

Both the houses observed a minute's silence.

The Indian Navy Sunday recovered a sixth body from the submarine, that sank at the Naval dockyard in Mumbai, after a series of explosions. The vessel had 18 personnel on board at the time.

It was reportedly scheduled to leave for a patrol Aug 14.
