Qatar will fly Dreamliner to Bangalore, Delhi


Bangalore, Aug 21 (IANS): Leading Gulf carrier Qatar Airways will fly Boeing's Dreamliner to Bangalore and New Delhi from Sep 1 from its capital Doha.

"We are introducing Dreamliner to Bangalore and New Delhi, which are two of our important routes in India, to provide a great flying experience with excellent service and comfort," airline's country manager Henry Moses said in a statement here Tuesday.

The airline's 787s boast of wireless facilities to enable its passengers to remain in touch with those on the ground through internet and SMS mobile texting across business and economy classes.

"Our Dreamliners provide a game-changing experience with designed interiors, spacious cabins and custom-made seats in both business and economy classes.We hope passengers flying on Doha-Bangalore and Doha-New Delhi routes will luxuriate onboard the 787s in the new service," Moses said.

Of the 254 custom-made seats across the passenger jet, business class will have 22 seats in one-two-one configuration while economy cabin will have the remaining 232 seats in 3-3-3 layout.

"India is a key market for us with an extensive route network offering 95 passenger flights non-stop each week from 12 gateway cities to Doha," Moses said.

Currently, the airline operates a daily service from Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Chennai Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram, with 11 flights a week from Kochi in Kerala and double daily flights from New Delhi to Doha.

The airline also provides connecting flights from Doha to many cities across Africa, Europe, North and South Americas through its global network, including Dubai, Frankfurt, London, Montreal, New York, Oslo, Paris and Washington.

Of the 60 Dreamliners the state-run airline ordered, Boeing delivered eight, which daily fly from Doha to various destinations in the Gulf and Europe.

As one of the youngest airlines the world over, the 16-year-old Qatar has a modern fleet of 129 aircraft and operates across 128 key business and leisure destinations worldwide.
