Mangalore, Feb 7: In a rare instance, the police, on Saturday February 4 arrested 3 persons accused of theft in one Sridhar Karanth's house at Someshwar near Ullal here on January 15, 2005.
The arrested have been identified as Sadashiv alias Saddu (19), a resident of Kotekar, Vicky alias Vikas (20) of Someshwar-Adka and Sayyad Irfan (19) of Kotekar. The police have recovered gold ornaments worth Rs 1.5 lac.
The ornaments were stolen from Sridhar Karanth's house on January 15 last year when he had gone to attend the 'brahmakalashotsav' of along with his wife and son. They had locked the house and had gone since there was on one else in the house.
But when they came back, they saw that the front door was broken and ornaments plus cash was stolen from the suitcase and cupboard in the house. Though a complaint had been filed in the station immediately, it took more than a year to nab the culprits.
However, Ullal police for pursuing the case for one year and nabbing the thieves. The police were able to recover 141.50 grammes of gold ornaments from them.
