New Delhi, Feb 9: The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday awarded Nimbus Sports the production rights for international and domestic matches for the next four years.

"Nimbus Sport quoted less in both the HDTV-based package (Higher Definition) and the SDTV-based package (Standard Definition digital television) and was awarded the production contract, beating contender TWI," the BCCI said in a statement.

The BCCI said it had received a fixed cost price for each day's production for the next four years and the figure was much less than the amount quoted for the recent one-day series against Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Accordingly, it will now pay Nimbus around Rs 43.2 lakh per day SDTV production costs, while the HDTV production charges works out to Rs 45.9 lakh.

Three companies had submitted tenders for production rights and Nimbus and TWI had the requisite qualifications.

"With Nimbus Sport's excellent track record and very competitive cost, the BCCI has secured for itself and its fans a fantastic level of television coverage never before seen in India cricket," BCCI vice-president and marketing sub-committee chairman Lalit Modi said.
