Barcelona coach criticises money spent on Bale

Madrid, Aug 25 (IANS): Barcelona coach Gerardo 'Tata' Martino criticised Real Madrid for the money they are set to spend on signing Tottenham Hotspurs' Welsh international winger Gareth Bale.

Bale reached in Marbella to end the long-running transfer saga, which has captured headlines all summer, reports Xinhua.

The Bernabeu, Real Madrid's ground, has already been prepared for Bale's presentation.

Asked about the reported world record transfer fee which Madrid is reported to have agreed to sign for the player, Martino was strongly criticised the amount for bringing Bale to Spain.

"I think he is a very good footballer. But the (money shows) a lack of respect considering the situation the world is in," said the Barcelona coach.

Neymar announced his arrival with Barcelona' s equalising goal in the Spanish Supercup Wednesday night and Martino was pleased with his progress since arriving in Spain.
