Mangalore, Fe 10: The preparations are brisk to welcome Mata Amritanandamayi, popularly known as Amma into the city. Venerated as a divine personality, Amma’s visit is likely to gather over a lac people from across the state. Amrita Sangama-2006 will be organized by the Mata Amritanandamayi Seva Samiti at Mangala Stadium on Monday February 13.
Speaking to reporters at the Mata Amritanandamayi math on Thursday, the organising committee president Jeevraj Sorake explained about the various preparations with regard to the programme.
Amma will be welcomed at Nelyady on Sunday evening on her way from Bangalore, and will be escorted to the city. Though the actual programme will commence at 6.30 pm on Monday, the venue will be open to the public from 11 am itself, he said.
Enough care has been taken to avoid all kinds of inconveniences to the devotees which were witnessed during Amma's earlier visit. Sufficient seating arrangements will be made. Token is a must for each participant which will be distributed as soon as they take their seats. The public need not pay any fee for the token. After the distribution of tokens to those who would seat on arranged seats, the rest will get tokens in counters, separately arranged for ladies and men.
After the benedictory address by Amma followed by cultural programme and bhajan, the programme will continue throughout the night, where Amma will bless the devotees. Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, former Minister D T Jaya Kumar and others will be present on the occasion, Sorake explained.
There will be maha annasantarpana after Amma's satsang will be arranged at Urwa Canara High School Grounds, which will continue till late night. There will also be a mini hospital, information centre and canteen. Parking arrangements will be made at Urwa Church Ground, the area in front of TMA Pai Convention Hall and Urwa Market Ground, he informed.
