Cloudy day in Delhi, rains expected Sunday


New Delhi, Aug 31 (IANS): The skies remained cloudy in the capital Saturday and the maximum temperature settled at 34.2 degrees Celsius - average for this time of the season. The Met office has forecast rains Sunday.

"Some parts of the city may receive rainfall tomorrow (Sunday). The skies will remain cloudy," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum and minimum temperatures would hover around 35 and 26 degrees Celsius.

Parts of the national capital region received light rains Saturday afternoon but the showers eluded Delhi. The day's minimum temperature settled at 25.9 degrees Celsius, average for this time of the season.

The maximum humidity settled at 90 percent.

Since the arrival of the monsoon, the city has recorded 781.4 mm of rainfall -- 49 percent above normal.

Friday's maximum and minimum temperature settled two notches below average at 31.8 and 24.3 degree Celsius respectively.
