Mangalore, Sep 2: DYFI Madaka unit scheduled a protest demanding land site for poor landless, implementation of rent control act and ownership deed for those who have built houses on government land.

The protest was held on Monday September 2, at 10.30 am and included protest march from Madaka junction to grama panchayat office.

DYFI has given petitions requesting for distribution of land among the landless several times from 2009 to 2012 during meetings held in Amblamogaru panchayat.

Though survey number 60 has more than five acres, survey number 29 has three acres and survey number 67 also has vacant land, hundreds of landless families in the area have been neglected. The matter had come for discussion during last eight grama meetings but the administration has continued its arrogance and indifference.

Panchayat had put shamiana and served meals in panchayat office premises promising to distribute land to the guests about seven months ago. It has rejected all the applications now, though the applications were accepted at the office. This amounts to cheating.

DYFI has decided to protest against the wrongdoings, says a press communiqué from DYFI Madaka unit.
