CLT20 matches shifted out of Hyderabad

New Delhi, Sep 2 (IANS): The Telangana crisis in Andhra Pradesh has forced the Indian cricket board to shift Champions League Twenty20 matches, slated for Sep 17 to Oct 6, out of Hyderabad due to security fears.

The qualifier and the group stages in Hyderabad have now been shifted to other venues. The six qualifiers slated for Sep 17, 18 and 20, will now be played at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium in Mohali.

The three double-headers in the group stage will now be held on Mohali, Ranchi and Ahmedabad. The PCA Stadium in Mohali will host the double-header Sep 24.

The JSCA International Stadium complex in Ranchi will host the Sep 28 double-header and the Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium at Motera, Ahmedabad, will host the double-header slated for Sep 30.

The ongoing Telangana agitation has created a political turmoil in Andhra Pradesh.

In 2010, all Indian Premier League (IPL) matches were shifted out of Hyderabad, also due to the Telangana crisis.

The United Progressive Alliance (UPA)-led government last month gave its green signal for carving a new state of Telangana, with Hyderabad as the joint capital of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
