Mumbai: 2 minors, including 4-year-old, raped

Mumbai, Sep 3 (DNA): Despite huge outrage over the gang rape of a photojournalist, two minor girls – including a four-year-old – were allegedly raped in two separate incidents in the last 24 hours.

In the four-year-old girl’s case, accused Salman Izad was arrested while a manhunt has been launched to trace the culprit, who allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl, police said.

According to the Oshiwara police, the four-year-old, daughter of a labourer, was allegedly abducted by Salman while she was playing in Tukaram Omble Park near her residence in Oshiwara area on Sunday evening. He took the victim to an isolated place nearby and sexually abused her.

When the victim started crying he then took her to Veera Desai area and leaved her near the Country club. The victim was later spotted by a local resident, who alerted the police.

She was rushed to nearby Cooper Hospital. The victim narrated the incident to her parents, who lodged a complaint with the police.  A case has been lodged against the accused under sections 376 (rape), 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC.

In the other case, a 17-year-old girl was raped by her estranged boyfriend’s friend, who tricked her to come to a deserted area in Versova. The accused asked the victim to come to the spot around 9pm, saying her estranged boyfriend had come there.

When the victim reached the spot, the accused aped her.

Soon after the incident, the victim rushed to the Versova police station where a case of rape was lodged against the accused.
