Policeman shot dead in Uttar Pradesh


Lucknow, Sep 3 (IANS): A police constable was Tuesday shot dead by unidentified assailants in Baghpat town in Uttar Pradesh, an official said.

The attack took place outside the railway station when Krishna Singh, a resident of Bawli village, was about to board a train.

He was posted in Ghaziabad near Delhi and was home on vacation, Baghpat Superintendent of Police Laxmi Singh told IANS.

She said the assailants were waiting for the policeman. He died instantly.

The constable's family members and other villagers later blocked traffic on the road demanding the arrest of the killers.
