Egypt minister survives assassination attempt


Cairo, Sep 5 (IANS): Egyptian Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim Thursday survived an assassination attempt when a car bomb exploded near his convoy.

The blast occurred near the minister's passing convoy in eastern Cairo while he was on his way to the interior ministry headquarters, Xinhua reported quoting the official news agency MENA.

At least four people were injured in the attack, an Egyptian official reported online, quoting an interior ministry source.
