Delhi burglars who flew between cities held


New Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS): A gang of burglars who flew from one city to another for making its strikes and stayed in five-star hotels has landed in Delhi Police net, an official said Thursday.

Gang leader Sohan Pal, 38, with his associates Pawan, 26, Sabir Malik, 31, and Abhishek, 19, was arrested early this week from south Delhi's Vasant Kunj where they had gone to commit thefts and a burglary, police said.

During interrogation, they revealed that they would stay in five-star hotels and travel by air to reach one city from another to commit crime, said a police officer.

The suspected burglars admitted to have been involved in break-ins and thefts in Delhi and neighbouring towns, Mumbai as also Vapi in Gujarat since 2010.

Stolen gold and diamond jewellery worth lakhs of rupees were later recovered from their hideout, police said.

"Their arrest led to solving of 10 cases of burglary and house theft committed by them in Delhi," said a police officer.

"Sohan Pal, who used to drive an autorickshaw earlier, fell in bad company and started committing burglaries. He formed his own gang in 2004," he added.
