Gujarat bandh: Scores of Cong leaders, supporters detained

Ahmedabad, Sep 6 (PTI): More than 600 people, including Congress leaders and workers, were detained during today's bandh call given by the party demanding resignation of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi over IPS officer D G Vanzara's letter.

Tight security is being maintained across the state to prevent any untoward incidence, police said.

Congress workers were out on the streets to enforce the shut down, which has evoked a mixed response in the state. The party workers and supporters tried to stop buses and trains form commuting here, but police detained them.

Schools and colleges were functioning as usual in most parts of the state, officials said.
In the old city in Ahmedabad, Vadaj and some eastern parts, 80 per cent establishments were closed early morning.

Over 60,000 police and other security personnel have been deployed across the state to maintain law and order situation in the wake of bandh call, they said.

"Till now we have not received any reports of untoward incidents of violence," police said.
Twenty-four State Reserve Police Force (SRPF) and six Rapid Action Force (RAF) battalions have been directed to be on alert to assist state police, they said.

Crime Branch personnel have also been directed in every city to maintain vigil in sensitive areas.

According to reports coming from different cities and district headquarters, police detained several Congress leaders and workers, who came out in support of the bandh.

In Vadodara, the bandh call evoked mix response in the morning while police detained Congress leaders and supporters who were trying to close business establishments in Mandvi, Karolia, Sama, Karelibaug and Pratapganj areas in the city.

The Congress has given a bandh call demanding resignation of the chief minister after an letter by suspended IPS officer Vanzara slammed Modi and former minister of state for Home Amit Shah.

In his explosive resignation letter, Vanzara claimed that he and his men were merely implementing the conscious policy of 'zero tolerance' towards terrorism of the state government.

Vanzara, who is a prime accused in four encounter cases, also said that, "place of this government instead of being in Gandhinagar, should either be in Taloja central prison at Navi Mumbai or in Sabarmati Central Prison at Ahmedabad."

We the Indian citizens feel shame of Mr. Modi. How a States Chief Minister AmulTeaBoy, the PuppyLove Mr. Modi, modified more than 2000 humans from the face of this earth. Despite first he undertook atrocities against Christians. Ex-Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee came to Gujarat to asses the atrocities against Christians and gave a positive statement in Gujarat. After reaching to Delhi succumbed to RSS pressure and issued a negative statement saying there were no atrocities against Christians in Gujarat.

WE INDIANS ARE FEELING SHAME IN BOWING OUR HEADS DOWN FOR THE CHAOS, DESTRUCTION AND HUMAN BUTCHERY IN GUJARAT.

THE RSS HAS NO SHAME IN CHOOSING SUCH A LOOSE CHARACTER PERSON/LETTING LOOSE STATE LAWS INTO THE HANDS OF BUTCHERS.

DEAR CITIZENS IMAGINE DO WE NEED SUCH A MURDERER, ENCOUNTERS MAN, CORRUPT MAN TO LEAD OUR PRESTIGIOUS NATION, INDIA???!!!
GOD FORBID SUCH A SHAMELESS MAN.
Really greater than the greatest draama by Mr. Modi during his tenure. Now tumbles skeletons one by one from his hidden cupboards.

    HAHAHAAA....
    This says you are blind.

    Dear Mr. Aravind, Blr,

I know your type of blind fellows will say like this.

In any of my comments if I copy I am quoting that website, the comment of the person in such and such website and the news completely so that people can understand.

Whereas your man hasn't specified the quote from where he copied and pasted. Instead showing as his own comment. That is called copy and paste. It is a waste.

You should show the truth from where you have copied so that the commentators can understand the truth. Just copy and paste and showing that is his own comment and that is ir-rationale mind.

I dont think this is a genuine Congress Bandh. I think this is a stage-managed Bandh by Pheku to please and reassure his supporters about his fake popularity after having got bashed 3 times this week as follows :

    1. The sting operation CD case.

    2. Vanzara's explosive letter.

    3. Goa BJP CM Manohar Parikkar saying that the Gujarat riots are a blot on Modi.

Modi's own party men seem to be against him. So why do the Congress need to call for a Bandh ?

Truth is extremely bitter this week for BJP supporters. The BJP's supporters are feeling directionless and let down by their own party which is not united on the PM candidate issue. In addition to the 3 points I mentioned above, Modi himself has indicated his intention to continue to serve Gujarat till 2017. So what happened to his PM ambitions ?
So I can understand such cases where when persons are themselves frustrated they imagine that others are frustrated. In fact this has been an excellent week for UPA/Congress supporters. So where is the cause for any frustration ? Dont worry, we are quite relaxed actually.

If the allegation of D G Vanzara are true, then Gujarat government should own it up and resign immediately. But it is unlikely that it will take this step as Pheku has lost his conscience a long time ago. He is a 'Hitler' and will not tolerate any dissent. But, writing is on the wall that his days are numbered.

There is no democracy in Gujarat. BJP/Modi winning the election every time by stopping the congress voters from the polling. Now they stopped & detained protesters. Feku Modi will pay heavy penalty for this. We can see his ending very soon. He will be jailed and disqualified from the politics within a few days. Feku Modi already realized it and denying to be a PM candidate. Jai congress. Jai bharath.
