China verifying Pakistan's arrest of terror attack plotter

Beijing, Sep 6 (IANS): China has not received official notification from Pakistan on the reported arrest of the chief plotter behind the June terrorist attack in which two Chinese citizens were killed, the foreign ministry said Friday.

Foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said the Chinese embassy in Pakistan will continue to verify the information, reported Xinhua.

He said China appreciated Pakistan's efforts to handle the terrorist attack, in which 11 people, including two Chinese, were killed this June in the northern Pakistan area of Gilgit-Baltistan.

"China opposes terrorism in any form," Hong said, while commenting on a report that said the chief plotter behind the June terrorist attack was arrested.
